What makes a good website ?

I guess it's all about keeping your client happy and not confusing the living daylights out of the sites' visitors. good navigation, simple design, remembering that the product is the star and not the website designer, and above all good solid content.

Can you explain a little about content ?

Content is what essentially brings a visitor to your website. In a web store the content is the products and prices, informative websites provide opinions and unique experiences. Basically, sharing your content is the whole reason for your website to be online. Just as everyone has a book inside them, they also have content enough for a website or weblog.

Which project are you proudest of?

I worked with the original website developer and brochure designers on 'http://www.barbarianfc.co.uk/. It was a humbling experience working for a Rugby Club that is respected all over the world. I had to keep so many peoples views in mind but also get the website complete within a short deadline for an opening party for the website. The project was technicallyprogressive introducing new technologies such as Flash and Layers but keeping the feeling of history with the historical sction and photos.

Tell me about a typical work day?

As lead designer I'm given high profiles projects that have short deadlines. The main areas I design is mobile software and websites but will be required to create print work aswell. A typical length of a project is three months and requires me to work closely with clients and programmers.

What brought you to the web and what did you do before the web?

I came from a art background. I found myself exploring many mediums on my Fine Art degree and in the last year (1996) explored digital art. Where I created montage pieces using Adobe Photoshop and exploring website design. Once I finishing my degree I completed short courses educating myself on software and programming languages. I was employed as a web designer in Febuary 1998.
